Bishnu Panigrahi

My name is Bishnu Panigrahi, and I have been a member of the Sayville community since 1997. I attended Sunrise Drive Elementary School, Sayville Middle School, and I graduated from Sayville High School in 2008. This summer, I will be volunteering for an organization called Bike and Build. It is a non-profit organization (www.bikeandbuild.org) that organizes cross-country cycling trips to raise awareness and funds for affordable housing programs. From June 19 to August 27 this summer, I, along with 34 other young adults, will be biking 3778 miles from Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Vancouver, Canada to raise awareness for affordable housing! For several days en route, we will stop to assist ongoing local affordable housing programs.

In order to make this a worthwhile summer, I have to raise $4,000 before the start of the trip. Your support, which is tax-deductible, will directly influence the affordable housing crisis our nation faces. The proceeds entirely go to raising awareness and funds for affordable housing programs, such as Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together.

To donate online, please visit www.bikeandbuild.org. On the front page, click on “Donate”, and under rider please select “Panigrahi, Bishnu (NUS)”. Then you will be able to use your credit card to make a donation. You can also donate through my biography page (http://bikeandbuild.org/rider/4909). If you wish to contribute via check please mail your donation, with my name in the memo section, to:

Bike and Build
6109 Ridge Ave, Bldg 2
Philadelphia, PA 19128

Thank you for your support! This is sure to be one of the most physically and morally empowering adventures of my life. Deciding to participate in Bike and Build was a difficult decision; I could have committed to many other things, but in the end, I decided that I should follow my heart and go for this arduous bike ride. I will never have such an amazing opportunity ever again. I would like to urge you to contribute to this noble cause which is definitely going to benefit the needy.

Towards the beginning of the trip, I will be keeping an online blog, which anyone can follow. If you have any questions, please contact me at Bishnu.K.Panigrahi@Dartmouth.edu.
