Karlyn Grasso started collecting and recycling cans during college in order to pay for things like shampoo and toothpaste. A Sayville resident, Karlyn, recently graduated from Sacred Heart University and is working part-time, while sending out resumes and interviewing for positions, which will enable her to begin a career in business administration.

This summer, Karlyn, along with friends and family, has a trip planned to Hershey, PA – but how to pay for it? Her mom suggested she log on to The Forum on Sayville.com, put a post up about collecting cans and bottles and see what happens. Voilà, before you could say “Save the Planet”, Karlyn had four people offering their cans and bottles for her trip. Each day brings more offers.

I contacted her, as well, and this afternoon she stopped by on her way to work, to pick up our cans. Karlyn is overjoyed by the response from The Forum visitors and has plans to continue this recycling program after she reaches her personal goal. Her father does fundraising for an organization he belongs to and she will continue collecting bottles and cans as a way to join with him in giving back to those in need.

If you would like to help Karlyn, please send her an email at: kbgrasso1@gmail.com. Every can counts!
